I believe that any parent unless they are dead shares the blame when something goes wrong with their child it's just how society view's women as the care giver that makes them look worst then the men in this issue.
I would like to agree with jhar84 because it took two to make this child so the responsibility should be distributed amongst the parents. Society should not put the burden on mothers because even though they are care givers there is only so much they can do.

No one parent should be responsible for the child. Both parents took the time to make the baby, both should be responsible for raising it.
