Frozen Embryos

Women are increasingly turning to freezing their embryos in order to postpone childbearing until after establishing their careers. What should happen to the frozen embryos which go unused? Discarded? Donated to another couple? Used for research? What are the ethical issues most important in your decision?

When women freeze their embryos they should make it clear what should be with the embryos that go unused. That decision should not be up to people who stumble across "forgotten" embryos to use however they please without consent from the woman.

The main issue with the frozen embryos to me is what to do with them when they are no longer needed. As a person having this procedure done I believe that there should be a guidelines to how long the embryo can be saved. Then you should choose whether or not to donate them to someone else or have them destroyed. The embryos are potential lives and a person trying to create them should know that better than anyone else. If this is a procedure you would like to get involved in then this should not be taken lightly.
